On October 19th 2024 at 7.30pm Young Phoenix and The Phoenix Singers performed several of their favourite pieces to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. In 2024 as a group we had been hit hard by cancer with many undergoing treatment, unfortunately losing one of our members but also a few successful completions of treatment. We wanted to do something that would make a difference but also raise the spirits of our community, friends and family so we sang! “Phoenix Favourites” took place at Trinity Church in Leek, with all profits going towards Cancer Research UK.
A Christmas Carol 16 12 2023

Christamas Concert 2023. With Phoenix Singers and Young Phoenix. "A Christmas Carol Cantata" is based on the original novella by Charles Dickens, composed by Ashley Thompson with a libretto by award-winning playwright Deborah McAndrew. This retelling through song, without narration, of Charles Dickens' classic tale, draws on a wide variety of styles - some old, some new - whilst also incorporating well-loved carols that would have been known in Victorian England. It is at the same time contemporary and rich in tradition. If you would like to hear some snippets from "A Christmas Carol Cantata", take a look at our Have a Listen page!
