We sing lots of different types of songs…pop and chart songs, songs from the musicals, traditional songs from around the World, silly songs; the list just keeps on growing!
We practise every Monday night during term time from 6-7pm at Leek First School, East Street, Leek. We enjoy performing at concerts and local events throughout the year, sometimes with other singers and musicians.
Vicky Ainslie is the musical director of Young Phoenix. She studied at Chethams, Manchester from the age of 11 until 18. She then went on to study music at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama where, after 4 years, she was awarded a BA in Musical Studies, with brass teaching endorsement. She then gained her Post Graduate Certificate in Education at the University of Reading. Vicky moved to Leek in the late 1990’s, where she has settled, married and now has two children. She taught at Leek First School for 5 years. She is very active in the musical life of Leek, not only with Young Phoenix but with other local choral groups. She also teaches piano and singing.
